Why soccer needs a national soccer writers organization?

Creating the USA Soccer Writers is currently a semester internship project for Samson Malijani, a graduate student in the Fairleigh Dickinson University Graduate School of Sports Administration. A resident of Lusaka, Zambia, Malijani earned NCAA Division I Third-Team All American accolades after finishing the season second in the nation with 0.90 goals per game and tied for first with 2.05 points per game. The objective of this project, a three-credit course, is to upgrade media exposure and create an awareness of soccer that lags far behind that of baseball, basketball, football and ice hockey athe high school, college and prfessional levels in this nation.

In 2009, Sky Blue claimed the Women's Professional Soccer (WPS) title but the meter coverage paled in New Jersey with even the New Jersey Nets (NBA) receiving greater coverage in the print media and on radio talk shows. In fact, the United States Soccer Hall of Fame closed its doors in Oneonta, NY in February, 2010 for a lack of funding that was a direct result of non-existant media and public relations. Can anyone name the NCAA Division I men and women's national champions for 2009? Which team was the MSL champion? Need any more proof why a viable USA Soccer Writers Association is necessary to upgrade the level of SOCCER?
